Halo dushi! It’s so nice to be back in the Caribbean after 6 years. The last time I came here, I visited Aruba and this time we picked Curacao for some relaxation after some crazy months!
Don’t get me wrong, I really do love living in Amsterdam, but the weather doesn’t treat us the way we wish (sun lovers for 1000%). After some really busy months and a disappointing summer we booked a last minute to the Caribbean. Just to chill, get a tan, swim, drink cocktails, eat….. on repeat.
I was thrilled when I got the invitation from Scuba Lodge Boutique Hotel & Ocean Suites to stay at one of their incredible suites together with the Mister.
When we arrived at night we were greeted by the lovely staff, who showed us the way to our suite. We dropped the bags and went to the terrace at the ocean front for some late night food and drinks. The sound of the waves always bring me peace, so it was amazing to have there some drinks!
The first morning I woke up really early and decided to have a look around in day light. All the suites have their own tropical color, which makes it such a happy place to stay. After a morning dip in the infinity pool we ordered breakfast and just a few minutes later a tropical rain fall started. The staff was so nice to help us to get the breakfast to our suite and continue there.
It was not that bad to have breakfast in the suite when it was raining. We were very lucky to have such a nice room with a wonderful bed. The room is extreme bright, because of the windows all around and the extreme high ceiling, which made it really spacious. I love the white wooden shutters so much, it gave me a homey feeling. The bathroom has a rain shower which is so nice to use after a day at the beach, all salty and sandy. The room even has an own kitchenary, with a cooker, fridge and a nice bar table for two. We didn’t use it, because we went out for dinner, but I can imagine it’s super handy if you want to prepare something yourself.
I gotta tell you something….. when the sun is out, it’s out. You need to make sure you have a swimming pool or ocean near you. What’s a better spot then this picture perfect infinity pool? We enjoyed our stay big time with our daily routine: hanging, sun bathing, swimming, having some drinks and bites….. life is good in the sun!
The next morning we had a clear blue sky and we could enjoy our breakfast at the ocean front. Some yummy coffee, juices, eggs and croissants made it a good good start of the day. Afterwards we took the car all the way to Westpunt, Playa Kalki to enjoy some diving. Such an amazing experience, all by ourselves without an instructor.
Scuba Lodge Boutique Hotel & Ocean Suites is located in Punda, Willemstad. Really close to the famous “Pontjesbrug” with all the colorful houses from the postcards. Easy to walk around, but in general I must say I would recommend a car to explore all the beautiful beaches the island has to offer.
